The history of our presence in Greece

Lahmeyer International entered the market in Greece in 1997 with the establishment of the firm's Greek branch. Focusing initially on infrastructure projects, the company rapidly expanded its portfolio to include renewable energy projects, starting with the first major wind power project in 2005 – and since 2009 the company has been exclusively involved with renewables. In 2014 Lahmeyer International was purchased by Tractebel, and the final 'rebranding' of the company was concluded in early 2019 such that it now operates under the new name of Tractebel Engineering GmbH.

For the past 15 years Tractebel has provided technical advisory services for numerous wind energy, photovoltaic and small hydropower plant projects, providing professional assistance to strategic local financing institutions including Alpha Bank SA and Eurobank Ergasias SA as well as international financing institutions and funds such as the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction, UniCredit Bank AG and Fortress Investment Group LLC. Tractebel has performed the assessment of projects for several major Greek developers – to name just a few: Terna Energy S.A., Eren Renewable Energy S.A., EDF Hellas S.A., EuroEnergy, Nostira Renewable Energy SA, Eunice Energy Group, RF Energy SA and other international power companies.
